Thanking Mammina for writing openly on the Millais subject, noting that Ruskin and his mother often talked openly about it with Severn. Noting that she is sure Ruskin's mother was "most indulgent and kind, in all ways to her son's wife," though neither she nor her husband approved of the marriage, and that Ruskin later saw that it had been a marriage of convenience and that Effie had "made love to him to save her Father from disgrace" and was already engaged. Describing in detail the beginning and ending of the marriage. With a postscript noting that Ruskin's health has improved.
